Angela lives just outside of Fort Myers with her husband and three children ages 2-14. She enjoys the beach, golfing, skating, photography, sewing, painting, and tending to her flock of chickens, cats, dogs, and cavies (guinea pigs.)
She moved to South Florida from Central Pennsylvania over twenty years ago while in middle school. Her children were born in the Sunshine State ranging from hospitals and OB/Gyns to home water births and midwives.
While her interest in birth studies began at an early age when captivated by her pet cat birthing kittens, she was inspired to become more involved as an activist and professional after reflecting on her births, those of the new mothers around her, and many hours of reading and research.
With formal training and over 13 years of mothering, Angela has developed a broad perspective and understanding of women's studies.
Since 2008, she helped to launch and maintain the Florida Friends of Midwives website while also working to complete doula, lactation counselor, childbirth educator, and placenta encapsulation specialist certifications.
She began helping PBi as the Course Administrator in 2009 and then volunteered for the roles of PBi Web Administrator while also serving as the Florida Friends of Midwives Communications Chair.
Angela has seen that the transition to motherhood and the postpartum time can feel potentially overwhelming following any birth. With many thanks to Jodi for initiating Placenta Benefits, she is grateful to have learned the Traditional Chinese Medicine method and now provides safe encapsulation services to benefit new mothers (and babies and families) in her community.
It is a great honor to serve new families and have the privilege to be a part of their journey. She finds that helping mothers have safer and more satisfying pregnancy, birth, and postpartum progressions is her calling.
