I am a Lawrence, KS native, mother of a sparkling 4 year-old Arlo and snuggly baby Oscar, life partner to Aaron Paden.
I received my doula training from DONA International and began attending births in Lawrence in 2002. I have been teaching childbirth classes since 2005. I have also apprenticed with two local homebirth midwives on my journey to become a traditional midwife.
The birth of my second child and my recovery process convinced me the first few months of a new baby’s life are a very vulnerable time for families and that women need extra support during this time. So I started looking for ways to help women through post-partum challenges. One of my co-apprentices introduced me to the Placenta Benefits process of making placenta medicine.
Many women experience post partum as a confusing, painful and exhausting time, and for so many years we have been hushed into the closet by a society that has no real help to offer. Well the good news is that consuming your placenta can really help smooth out the rockiness of “the 4th trimester”. The even better news is that PBi has developed a method for processing your placenta that makes it so easy to eat, nothing messy, nothing “weird”, just peacefully recycling the amazing organ you grew back into your body.
I look forward to working with you on your journey.
