My name is Sabbath Davies. I am the proud mother of a
beautiful little girl, and married to a wonderful and
supportive husband. I currently work as a Labor Doula,
Private Childbirth Educator and a Placenta Encapsulation
Specialist.
My path began as a lot of doula's path's begin, with the
birth of my wonderful daughter. At the beginning of my
pregnancy, I had planned on going to a hospital and
getting an epidural. But, throughout my pregnancy, the
more I researched and the more books I devoured, the
more I knew that wasn't the path for us. So, we decided
on a birth center birth, with a doula. To call the
experience life altering would downplay the awe and
wonder that it set ablaze in my soul. I remember telling
my doula right away 'I want to do what you do! I want to
be a doula!' After some soul-searching I began down my
path as a birth worker and haven't left it yet.
The more I read about the benefits of placenta
consumption, the more I wish I had chosen it for myself.
As a first time Mom, I wasn't ready for the emotional
upheaval that I experienced. I wasn't ready for the
rollercoaster ride that eventually crashed into deep
postpartum depression. If I had known then what I know
now about placenta encapsulation, I would have chosen it
for my family. So it is with great pride that I can now
offer this service to the Des Moines, Iowa area!
When I am not busy assisting birthing women, I love to
garden, knit, spin my own fiber/yarn, cook, bake, and
research new and interesting findings in the birth
world. We live in the Valley Junction area of Des
Moines, and couldn't be happier!
